For four decades, Augusto Yanacopulos has turned “sacred madness” into a creative method. Co-founder of Aguijón Theater Company (1989), his work moves fluidly between stage, canvas, myth and everyday reality.
This retrospective brings together his easel paintings of mythological hybrids, nude figures in dreamlike landscapes, and poetic realities alongside documentation of his most celebrated stage designs.
Yanacopulos celebrates the body in metamorphosis, Latin cultural memory, and the transformative power of art in Spanish. This exhibit is an invitation to dream through a body of work challenging imagination and conceptual borders.

Durante cuatro décadas, Augusto Yanacopulos ha convertido nuestra “sagrada locura” en un método creativo. Co-fundador de Aguijón Compañía de teatro (1989), su obra fluye con naturalidad entre escenario, lienzo, mito y realidad cotidiana.
Esta retrospectiva reúne sus pinturas de caballete con híbridos mitológicos, figuras desnudas en paisajes oníricos y realidades poéticas, junto a documentación de sus diseños escénicos más celebrados.
Yanacopulos celebra el cuerpo en metamorfosis, la memoria cultural latina y el poder transformador del arte en español. Una invitación a soñar a través de una obra que desafía las fronteras imaginarias.

Augusto Yanacopulos is co-founder of Aguijón Theater Company (1989). His work weaves stage, canvas, myth and everyday reality together.
Trained at the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Santiago de Chile, The Academy of Art and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Yanacopulos celebrates the body in metamorphosis, Latin American cultural memory, and the power of art in Spanish.
