These artists utilize observation of the physical world and incorporate it with imaginative interventions of the mind to create images composed by handmarking (literally the act of drawing a stylus or material across a surface). Meanwhile comics artists are being recruited worldwide from Korea, Europe, and other international locales to present their work with Chicago artists in our gallery and published in our Comics anthology: WORLDWIDE (journal #6) that spans audiences across all languages and cultures.

Join us for the opening reception and enjoy many more events throughout August at Agitator Gallery. including a DIY Publishing Comics & Zines Workshop sponsored by Sheep Cult Comics, a costumed/cosplay live modeling Figure Drawing Session at Agitator Gallery with horror/contraposto lighting, a “meet the Artists” Critique & Talkback Night and a closing Festival of Animation organized by guest curator Chris Wellems.

The RIOT IN FLATLAND exhibit serves as the publication/release party for WORLDWIDE: Agitator Comics! This August, Agitator is excited to debut Volume 6 of its comics journals in both Chicago and at the Trinacria Arts Festival in Sicily, Italy run by our friends @trinacriatheatr.

Featuring comics & graphic narratives from artists around the world, the comics will be displayed at the exhibition and simultaneously at the Trinacria Arts Festival. Agitator’s Comics Journal #6 is being published in Chicago by member Alex Wilson and exhibited in countries around the world by travelling Agitator co-founder, Gretchen Hasse.
