Art of Science Lecture Series: Dark Matter Demysified

July 19 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm CDT

Free

In this science outreach series, scientists present different scientific topics to the general public in a laid back atmosphere in an art gallery.

Hosted by Yoav Kashiv
Presented by Dr. Andrew Long, University of Chicago

We look upward and the cosmos greets us with scintillating constellations of stars and gossamer webs of galaxies. Yet, the mysterious thread that ties them all together cannot be seen — the dark matter! In this presentation, Dr. Long will explain how the first evidence for dark matter emerged 50 years ago and describe the ongoing efforts to detect dark matter in laboratories across the world today.
